For this tutorial you will need the following supplies. I was going to use selection files for this but I had got a request not to so that each bear made would look different. Which was fine with me because the legs and arms were the hardest for me to do. We won't be making the frame. Mines a little distorted because I resized him a few times and applied unmask  in Paintshop Pros sharpen.

Eyecandy (Download here) This will need to be installed into your Paintshop Pro plugins folder. Eyecandy EYE preset file and the preset for the paintshop pro inner bevel (Download here) Place EYE preset in  your Eyecandy settings, bevel boss folder. Place the  nose preset into your preset folder in paintshop pros directory..

Step 1   Open a new transparent canvas 500 x 500. This will give us plenty of work space.

Step 2   Set your Styles foreground color to #EAE2D0 and your Styles background color to white #FFFFFF.

Step 3   Now click on your layer palette and add a raster layer, name it body. Omit this step

Step 4   Click on your preset shapes tool, choose the tear drop with the following settings. Name it body

5.    Now draw an tear drop like the one below. The reason for the tan around the edges is to give it a shadow look when it's complete.

Step 6   Now right click on the body layer on your layer palette, and select convert to raster layer. Now go up to select and select all, then float.

Step 7   Next select effect, 3d effects, cutout using these settings The shadow color is #EAE2D0. Don't forget to change that. Then apply the cutout again this time change vertical and hortizontal to 2.. Now click on select, defloat

Step 8   Now zoom in x 1 and apply the smudge tool   to the outer edges. Be careful not to go beyond the tan color. Pull from the inside outward to get a fuzzy look. The settings are the following

size 4
hardness 0
opacity 100
step 25
density 100

Your image should now look like this but smudged all the way around. I  flood filled the bottom layer with black so I could see how it looked. Notice the outer edges are still tan.

Step 9   This time from the preset shapes list select ellipse. This time we will need to reshape it. Click on object selector tool    then on your tool palette select node.

Step 10   Now click on the little black box at the bottom of the head and push upward until almost flat. Then using the box at the top bring it down just a tad.  Right click on the head while in node edit and select quite node edit. Click on your head layer and select convert to raster layer. Your image should now look like this.

Step 11   Now go back to selections, select all, float and follow steps 6 - 8

This how it should look now but in this case I think his head may be a little too big. If you run into that problem you can fix that by clicking on image, resize uncheck all layers then check percent of original and chose maybe 85%, click okay.

Step 12    Again follow steps 9 - 11. This time making it smaller. Now go to image and select flip. Another way to shape the nose is to pull the top box down and pull the bottom box up in node edit. This step bypasses flipping of the nose.

Step 13   Now were going to move on to his eyes. This is where eyecandy bevel  will come in.

Step 14   Okay, now you need to change your styles foreground color to #9A7A34 and your styles background color to black #000000. Now with your preset shapes using the ellipse again make a small round circle. This time using these settings.

Your image should look something like below.

Step 15   Were going to right click on the eye layer in the layer palette and select conver to raster layer. Now go up to selections select all, float. Now go to effects filters, eyecandy bevel.. I decided it was easier to have you load in the settings file rather than having several screenshots. Now go to layer, duplicate then image, mirror. This is how your eyes should look. If you don't like the placement of them the move them where you want them. Also the next thing you need to do is click on your nose layer and bring it to the top.

Step 16   Now switch your styles foreground and background colors back to what they were. Foreground #EAE2D0 and background #FFFFFF Where going to add the ears now. click on the body layer and add a new layer name it ears. using your preset tools change your line width back to1 draw another ellipse this time shaped like an egg but slightly narrower. Rotate your ear slightly and place into position like this. I rotated mine a little more after I used edit node.

Step 17   We will use node edit to give it a slight curving. To do this there are four boxes pull the left one in towards the right slightly, pull the right one out slightly then pull the top one and the bottom ones in slightly towards the left. Then on your layers palette convert to raster layer, and follow the step you did for the head, body and nose. Once you have done that then duplicate layer and mirror. Your bear should look something like below.

Step 18   Now were going to add the red pads to the ears. To do this change your foregraound and background colors to red #FF0000 now repeat the steps you did to make the ears except smaller. After you have the shape you want convert to raster then go to effects,

Step 19   Now we will apply the weave effect to the ears. To do this click on effects, textures, weave and use these settings. The weave color I used is #FFB7B7

This is what your bear should look like now.

Step 20   Now were going to make the nose pad. To do this click on your nose layer and add a new layer and name it nose details. Keeping both the forground and background colors on red. Draw another preset shape ellipse this time horizontal. Now go to node edit and flaten the top so it looks like a rounded triangle. Then go back to effects, texture effects, weave and apply the same settings you did for the ear pads. Then go to effects inner bevel and apply these settings

Your bear should now look something like this.

Step 21   Now for the arms, to do this change your styles foreground to #EAE2D0 and background to #FFFFFF. Now click on body and add a new layer name it arms. Now draw another ellipse and by rotating it and using node edit you want to achieve this look below. It is easier to rotate the ellipse at about a 45 degree angel then move the nodes.

Once you've achieved the look you want then convert to raster apply your cutouts then smudge as you did before. Then duplicate layer and mirror.

Alright, here I did'nt like the placement of the arms so I moved onto the legs. Once I had the legs done I was able to move the arms and legs around a bit to get the look I wanted. This is a judgement call on your end because you can have him sitting as I do or have him standing. Move his arms around a bit to accomadate for holding the heart in an appropriate manner. Thats the nice thing about having so many layers.  Make a new layer and name it paws. Select node edit to shape like a rounded rectangle. Then convert to raster, select all, float and apply your cutouts then defloat select none then apply your smudge. Below is what you should have now.

Now where going to add the paw pads. Omit this step if you decide to have him standing up. Change your styles foreground and background colors to red  #FF0000. Now add a new layer and name it paw pads. Here you can chose the heart shape or go with what I did. I used the ellipse again this time a bit smaller and used node edit to get the same shape as his paw. Once your happy with the shape then convert to raster, and follow steps 18 and 19. This is how he should look now.

Now add the heart. Click on the body layer this will put the heart under the legs and arms. Add a new layer and name it heart. Using the red color your already using draw a heart shape from the preset shapes. Then convert to raster and apply an inner bevel of your choice. I used eyecandy bevel for the first one. But this time I elected to use the one in paintshop pro. This is what you should have now.

Now for the final step. We need to draw a red line on his nose. So click on his nose layer and add a new layer name it nose line. Then go to effects, blue gaussian blur and adjust it to 1.50 then go back to layer 1 which should be the black layer if you used it as I did and deleted it. then merge all layers visable and export as a tube. Heres what mine looks like. I also included what mine looked like after making his legs and feet.
